Following submissions from Camden Area Family History Society, Botany Bay Family History Society, the Heraldry & Genealogy Society of Canberra and Inverell District Family History Group, Inverell has been chosen to host the 2011 NSW & ACT Association of Family History Societies Annual Conference.
This will be the first time in the Association's 27 year history that the conference will be held in Inverell. Inverell District Family History Group was also elected to the State Committee of Management and will be represented by Muriel Resta at their meetings.
Pam Valentine, State President said the association was delighted to receive a submission from Inverell District Family History Group to host their annual conference in 2011. Family historians will come from all over NSW, ACT, Qld and as far as New Zealand to attend. Hosting the conference will be a wonderful opportunity for Inverell to showcase their Group's resources and the influx of visitors is sure to benefit the region as a whole.
Inverell President Ann Hodgens said many delegates at the 2009 conference at Wyong were excited about Inverell being awarded the conference and were looking forward to visiting the region. 'We are always amazed at how many people attending these conferences have links with the Inverell district' said Mrs Hodgens. 'It is a great honour to be able to bring the conference to Inverell and highlight family history in the region.'
The State conference is a wonderful opportunity to learn more about family history research, see the latest in research resources and make valuable contacts with other like-minded people.
