The Group
IDFHG was formed in 1984 by a small enthusiastic group of people keen to research local and family history. The Group now has an extensive collection of research material for use by both members and non-members
Membership
New members are welcome - there is no joining fee.
Annual membership fees from 1 July 2009 are $35 single and $45 family
Note: New members joining after 31 March have membership until 30 June the following year
Membership provides access to online subscriptions to Ancestry.com and Findmypast.co, and an extensive research library.
In addition, there is the opportunity to contribute to our newsletter and to draw upon the knowledge and experience of other members. Training sessions and information workshops are held from time to time.
Meetings
General meetings are held at our new Research Centre at 129-135 Otho Street, Inverell, (opposite Centrelink) on the third Saturday of each month at 2.00 pm.
Visitors are always welcome.
Newsletter
The official journal of the Group is Voices from the Past and is published in March, July and October
Community Participation
Our Group is directly involved in conducting guided tours to the historic Newstead Shearing Shed, the Homestead, and the Cemetery. We also provide presentations on family and local history to service clubs, schools, community groups and other organisations.
